The Badazz is out of gen pop and back to free life. He went to jail in 2009 for weed possession and then while incarcerated more charges were tacked on. He was accused of killing some dude named Terry Boyd and then faced charges on paying a hit man to kill him. He was somehow acquitted of the murder charges but then got popped while incarcerated for smuggling drugs into Angola Louisiana State Prison aka “The Farm.” He completed some substance abuse classes in prison and was released last night. He told Spin Magazine that he wrote 500 songs during his 5 year bid so I’m sure we’ll see a bunch of mixtapes, features and a new album. Stop killing people and start rapping bra.
Big Sean should have had a verse on the original track instead of hook man so he has every right to put out a solo version. OH GOD!
As soon as I hit play on this cloud I felt like I was in an old school lac with a big ol’ doobie. Ferg’s flow is perfect this slow jam.
A$AP Rocky continues to impress me with what he’s putting out. He’s clearly a hip hop artist, but constantly pushes boundaries to go beyond what is acceptable in the genre. A$AP’s most recent two examples include linking up with producers from the electronic scene who are making some of the nastiest music out. The “Rave Riot” video serves as visual art with footage of riots & people running crazy in the streets over a dark instrumental from West Philly’s Baauer. The track for the Divergent soundtrack might have the illest beat in hip hop so far for 2014. Working with Gesaffelstein now A$AP? He’s the only one in the game that has the vision for where hip hop’s future is headed. He’s gotta be inspired by what Kanye showed us on Yeezus. He also got himself a little side gig doing some modeling for DKNY. Pretty nigga. Stay tuned.

On the eve of the release, why not give the full length from Pharrell Williams an early listen? He performed on the Oscars last night and brought another color of that toats-ridic hate for his peformance of “Happy”. GIRL is in stores tomorrow and you know it will be worth picking up a copy. Wonder how Chad Hugo is doing these days. Hopefully they reunite soon because The Neptunes are one the best to ever do it.
This is some special house music. Amine Edge & DANCE is something I’ve never heard of but this remix shows that they are worth exploring further in to. I found a few other tracks and they’ve all been hot. The Frank Ocean track was the best I’ve heard.
