Overnight, the highly anticipated Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius collaboration WZRD leaked. The album is due out next Tuesday, February 28th, but you can download the leak now. I know Albusy thinks Cudi is going way too far on the emo tip with this project, but I’m feeling it. Can’t give this a listen just yet, but hopefully the link doesn’t get removed before I get a chance.
Die Antword brought their “freekiness” over to the Jimmy Kimmel Live show last night to perform two tracks off their new album Ten$Ion. The white-African duo appeared at the Trocadero just a couple weeks ago and I’m sure it was a blast for anyone who caught the show. I haven’t checked out the full new album yet, but “I Fink U Freeky” is constantly sneaking into my head. “Jump Motherfucker! Jump Motherfucker! Jump!” They perform that track and “Fatty Boom Boom”.
Before The Slim Shady LP, there wasn’t an active white rapper in the game getting any respect. Eminem released his debut album eactly 13 years ago today. Back in 1999, when everyone first heard “My Name Is”, it caught on instantly. Eminem was suddenly the biggest thing in hip hop and not just because he was working with Dr. Dre. Not because white people needed someone in the rap game. Not because MTV put the ridiculous music video on repeat. Sure, these things helped, but the fact that Eminem’s lyrical skill was far superior than most established MC’s in music at the time made people pay attention.
While the lead single was definitely gimmicky and would be completely ruined by overplay, The Slim Shady LP had plenty to offer and much of it not friendly enough for the mainstream airplay. Tracks like “97 Bonnie And Clyde” and “Rock Bottom” proved the talent that Em possessed and let us know that he wasn’t just some imposter hand selected to sing songs for MTV. He was real and the dude had issues from the start. The album closer “Still Don’t Give A Fuck” stood out as the defining track off the album and let us know this was just the start of the Eminem show. He hasn’t stopped yet, still shocking listeners and impressing fans with his lyrical talent 13 years later.
Nicki Minaj enlists Lil Wayne for the title track from her upcoming release. Beat is sick. Funkmaster Flex getting his bomb drop on this version so hopefully a CD quality version will drop quickly.
I couldn’t be less excited about this. DMX doesn’t have it anymore, in my opinion, and everything about this Machine Gun Kelly cat screams gimmick. The two have linked up for the latest single from X called “I Don’t Dance”. I figure some people will want to hear this, so here it is. I’m not a fan.
Ghostface and Sheek Louch keep the hope alive that Wu Block is a real thing. I hope a full album of Wu heads and all of D-Block gets put out. Any new music from Ghost would be great, but if every track only features Sheek… Let’s just say the album could be much better if they got the rest of The LOX involved.

I wasn’t sure if fun. would turn out to be one of those bands that I like one song by and then never even give a shot again. Considered it, until I heard this track and their latest music video. Always a sucker for a good album intro and this one hits the nail on the head.
Gorillaz are part of the latest “Three Artist, One Song” series for Converse, along with James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem fame and Andre 3000. The song will be available for download starting tomorrow on Converse’s site. It’s got just about as much funk in it as you would expect from that lineup. The hook sounds like Boots Electric helped record it. Andre kills his verse, as always.

The Used have been off my radar for a minute. Today they released a new single called “Hands And Faces” digitally and it will be featured on their upcoming album Vulnerable. It’s due out on March 27th. This is their first album in three years. The Used’s live show is great so hopefully a tour is soon to follow. Nice to have you back Bert.
3/4 of Slaughterhouse come in on the Lil Wayne and Drake beat for “She Will”. Royce sits out while Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, and Crooked I go in hard on this beat. “She Will” is definitely one of my favorite beats of recent memory. It should be mandatory that every MC has to spit over this and “No Church In The Wild” before they get a record deal. welcome to: OUR HOUSE will be released on May 15th.
We’ve all seen Kate Upton before, but this chick had the biggest week of her career last week and we have to recognize her for it. Katie-Girl made the cover of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and got to appear on television programs like SNL looking like a total babe. The 19 year old Michigan native has been modeling since 2008 and even started trying her hand in acting recently with the Stiller flick Tower Heist. When she’s not teasing us with pics of her in see-thru beachwear, Kate likes going topless and getting undressed for her Twitter fans. Plenty of fake nude shots are floating around online, but this rising star has been smart enough to not get completely naked for cameras just yet. That will come later.
Santigold leaks another track off her upcoming Master Of My Make Believe album. “Disparate Youth” has been floating around for a few days, but I was hoping to locate an MP3 before posting about it. I can’t hold off anymore. I’m definitely feeling this a ton more than “Big Mouth”. The Philadelphia native is gearing up her sophomore album’s release for May 2012. If this track doesn’t excite you, then you clearly aren’t a Santigold fan.
J. Cole throws some new music out there for his fans after hitting 2 million followers on Twitter. Cole didn’t take home a Grammy the other week, but for someone with a long career ahead of him in the rap game, this early recognition means a lot. This dude can do it all.
I like to think of myself and my cronies as some down ass bulls that could handle our own at the bar or at the green house but these dudes have drug problems. The amount of gin and herb that is consumed between the 3 in one stu session would have an Army platoon catching spins putting one leg down on the floor for puke comfort in the barracks.
Didn’t hear about this til just now, but looks like it was from the Chicago Bulls game against the New Orleans Hornets at their home game on February 8th. Will Ferrell introduces the starting lineups for both squads and it’s classic. “He doesn’t speak a word of English, but we still love him.” They should let Will introduce every NBA game’s starters. Shit is hilarious.
It took a minute for them to finally get this video out. French Montana is gonna continue to be everywhere in 2012, but “Shot Caller” was definitely how he first caught New Jawn’s attention. The remix features his bosses, Rozay and Diddy. French will have his debut full length out later this year thru both MMG and Bad Boy. That’s gangsta.

Some people think that Crystal Castles make some of the worst music in the world. Therefore, of course, I dig it. Singer Alice Glass has toned down her screaming a lot since their debut album and their follow up album had some good electronic jams. Not to mention that when they enlisted Robert Smith to recreate “Not In Love”, it turned out to be one of the best songs of 2010.
