GONE TOO SOON: Julian Plenti (2008 – 2009)
Paul Banks may be known to most as the frontman of Interpol, but his short lived side project Julian Plenti was a monumental accomplishment for him as an artist. Under this moniker, Banks released Julian Plenti…Is Skyscraper. The album was stellar, front to back, and included tracks that he had written but did not feel were meant for Interpol. I just recently read that Banks intends to have several different side projects, all with different names, much in the vein of Devonte Hynes. That’s fine by me, as long as each of them live up to the expectations that were created by Julian Plenti. We’ll be waiting for the next “go-round”. It has to be better than that last self-titled disc, right?
