Christopher Nolan & Tom Hardy talk “The Dark Knight Rises” – NJNews
If you’re like me, you can’t wait for next July. Forget about the holidays and Spring, let’s just skip right to July 20th. The Dark Knight Rises is still pretty guarded in terms of plot and what to expect. However, the film’s director Christopher Nolan and new addition to the franchise Tom Hardy, starring as the villain Bane, gave an interview with Empire magazine and shared some details. First, the new film picks up eight years after where The Dark Knight left off. Bruce Wayne, as well as Batman, are in much different places than where we left them. The addition of Bane sounds like it will be just what the film needs to stand up next to the still haunting performance by Heath Ledger as The Joker. Here is what Hardy says about his character in The Dark Knight Rises:
“He’s brutal. Brutal. He’s a big dude who’s incredibly clinical, in the fact that he has a result-based and oriented fighting style. It’s not about fighting. It’s about carnage. The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it’s nasty… Anything from small-joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. He is a terrorist in mentality as well as brutal action.”
If that isn’t enough to get you sporting a semi, Nolan also confirms that just like the last film, there will be an extended prolouge of the film during the previews for the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. So all of us who planned to not go see the unnecessary Tom Cruise flick, just suck it up. You know it’s worth your $10-$15. Nolan confirmed it will be the first 6-7 minutes of The Dark Knight Rises and will serve as “an introduction to Bane, and a taste of the rest of the film”.
