Marilyn Manson may have taken a nose dive in terms of making good music right around the time he released Mechanical Animals, but prior to that, he had plenty of great tracks. While the focus always went on his crazy appearance and news stories about parents using him as a scapegoat for their children’s behavior, the shock-rocker was out selling millions of records and playing to sold out crowds worldwide. His 1996 album Antichrist Superstar was highly anticipated and received tons of critical praise, going on to become regarded as a classic album in the industrial & heavy metal genres. “Man That You Fear” was the third single off Antichrist Superstar and was a surprising change of pace to the usual heavy instrumentation and loud vocals of his previous singles. I can never turn off tracks like “Cake And Sodomy” or “Get Your Gunn”, but “Man That You Fear” serves as proof that Manson is more than just a freakshow.
