Sixers make some moves – NJNews
No heavyweight signed like we hoped would happen this off season, but the Sixers did finally make some annoucements today. They decided to amnesty Elton Brand, opening up $18 million for his fifth and final season under contract. Some of that will go towards the signing of former Clipper and Wizard Nick Young to a one-year, $6 million contract. This also comes with rumors that Lou Williams will not be returning, making Young the go-to sixth man for the 2012-2013 season. We already heard the news that Spencer Hawes signed on for another two years for a big ol’ pay day at $13 million. They sure do know how to throw some money away! Hawes will likely be on the injured list by game 20, like always, and miss a major chunk of the season. Hopefully this isn’t the last we hear of the off season moves by the Sixers management. With Dwight Howard eyeing up either the Lakers or Nets, our hopes at getting Superman are out the window. If he goes to L.A., it’s a wrap. Kobe, Nash, and Howard will be unstoppable. Let’s pray the Sixers start off hot like this past season to keep shit interesting.
