If you’re like me, next Saturday isn’t soon enough to hear a taste of some new Kanye West material from his upcoming sixth studio release. G.O.O.D. Music signee Hudson Mohawke, half of TNGHT, premiered a couple tracks from Kanye’s next album during his set at Freeform Festival in Poland. Damn if they don’t sound like some bangers. I have to assume Kanye’s move to an EDM sound played a huge part in scooping up Mohawke as one of his signed producers. Shit sounds bananas. Sound quality not great, but you can feel that bass heavy Yeezy shit coming.

Jay-Z is one of many big names to have new music on the official soundtrack for the upcoming The Great Gatsby movie. The flick starring Leo DiCaprio is the latest from Baz Luhrmann and looks just as flamboyant as his other work. Check out “100$ Bill” which sounds like it could be an old Jay track that didn’t make the album. Still better than his recent mainwork. Glad to see that awesome Jack White cover of “Love Is Blindness” found a home on this soundtrack too.
Kanye is returning to the SNL stage once again for the SNL 38th Season Finale on May 18th with host Ben Affleck. He’s going to premiere new music is the rumor off his upcoming supposedly dark new album. Ye also had his demo tape Know The Game hit the internet recently just like the Kendrick incident of a couple weeks back. Enjoy Young Yeezy.
Action Bronson. Trinidad James. ScHoolboy Q. Ab-Soul… and a bunch of other cats made the XXL annual Freshman Class mixtape for 2013. Bronsaliño has two tracks. Ghostface Killah was quiet for a short minute, but an unexpected new project with Adrian Younge is his latest venture. I thought him and Doom were supposed to have a full album together, but I’ll take this. He gets a few Wu-Tang guest spots, including INS, Cappadonna, U-God, and Masta Killah. That is some gangsta, evil artwork. Check out the new video for “Rise Of The Ghostface” with an appearance from RZA. Also super evil.
Jay asks that you please let this knock. “Open Letter” is Hov going off about what a boss he is. Still talking about the drug game? Let that go Jay. Stick with the running with Obama rhymes and whatnot instead. Much more believable. Swizz on the beat, I assume.
With the title track from his new album, The Dream once again ensures that he won’t get much radio friendly play. He’s definitely the biggest freak in the R&B game since Kellz. If IV Play is half as good as this early taste, we’re in for a treat once again. I say it every time, The Dream is top three in the present R&B game. Hey Franky and Abel.
Real big to land the lead single off the new Funk Flex album. Action Bronson delivers some real New York hip hop for “Live From Kissena Blvd.” which will land on Who You Mad At? Me Or Yourself?, a much overdue mix from Flex. “I been a dad”. Enough said Bronson. That’s why we fuckin’ with you since the start.

Just when you thought it was going to be necessary to travel to Chi-town to catch Nine Inch Nails and Queens Of The Stone Age at Lollapalooza this summer, Made In America come out of nowhere with a sick lineup of diverse proportions. Sure. Jay-Z isn’t listed as performing, but I’ll guarantee he makes an appearance during the Beyonce headlining performance. Plenty of dance parties with Calvin Harris, deadmau5, Wolfgang, and Nero. The hip hop scene will be all you could ask for as well with Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Wiz, and 2 Chainz. Throw in Empire Of The Sun and you have the must see summer festival Philly has been blessed with for 2013. Tickets officially on sale next Wednesday.
I’m still calling him Mos Def. Fuck it. Here’s a new track with production from Kanye West. Mos always has a tight flow and with a Yeezy beat, it’s definitely worth a listen. Not sure where this will land, but feelin’ it.

Bronson got included in the latest XXL Freshman Class even though last year would have been more fitting. If you aren’t fucking with Action Bronson by now, you’ve slept on basically two years worth of classic material. Bronsalini is a household name by now you sleepin’ ass magazine execs.
