Just after the last post about Francis Starlight, it seems only right that I share someone else from Les Poisson Rouge. NYC was graced with a solo piano performance from Dev Hynes last Saturday, which luckily for us has had a couple tunes find their way onto the YouTube. Check out Blood Orange cover a track from his close friend Solange and a short pairing with Florence Welch doing that radio track from the Jersey Shore girls’ show. Lucky bastards that knew about this one and got to enjoy the greatness.

Empire Of The Sun are well overdue for new music. The follow up to Walking On A Dream is five years in the making and the first taste is “Alive”, the lead single from Ice On The Dune, due out in June. I was super excited to see they will be at Made In America. The bizarre outfits and stage performance should be an attraction at the two-day festival at the end of the summer.

Mayer Hawthorne gets a little funky on a track that shouts out just about every trendy drug out there in his new love anthem “Designer Drug”. Not his finest work, but it is a change of pace from the usual Motown jacking Mayer tracks. It definitely sounds like he spent a good deal of time with Chromeo on this track.

Here’s another club joint that will.i.am will include his solo album willpower. Is this the first song title to utilize the hashtag? Bieber has been making a lot of news on the interweb for showing up late to shows, rumors of drug use, and the usual shit you can expect when a child moves into adulthood. UPDATE: The 20/20 Experience is available to download here track by track. Just skimming through it while downloading and it sounds like some good shit. JT has been hanging with Jimmy Fallon all week performing new tracks, including that “Mirrors” outro. Tight.

Here’s another leak from The 20/20 Experience, dropping on March 15th, this Friday. Justin Timberlake seems to be going for a classy sound this time around, but I’m missing the radio and dancefloor hits that had everyone thinking they were bringing sexy back. This is good music, but where’s the club bangers? Hook it up JT. How is this whole album produced by Timbaland and we haven’t heard a bass heavy beat yet?  The stream is shit quality, but the MP3 download is CD quality with the outro… the best part of the track once again.

Empire Of The Sun go the Daft Punk route and tease us with a 15-second snippet of some new music that will land on their upcoming album. Or at least we can assume that. The Australians take a full 2.5 minutes to get around to the short taste of the disco rhythms fans have come to know and love. Luke Steele sure does know how to rock a fancy headdress. New music finally from this duo 2013. Well overdue.

Justin Timberlake made his 5th hosting visit to Saturday Night Live last night and brought a bunch of celebrities with him, including Hov for a performance of “Suit & Tie”. JT did most of his recurring characters from his SNL history. No Barry Gibb Talk Show though. R.I.P. Robin Gibb. The second performance was “Mirrors”. No outro. Bummer.

The Twilight movies always seem to get a stellar soundtrack compiled. Thom Yorke had that amazing track for New Moon and The Joy Formidable tune from the last one was a keeper. For Breaking Dawn: Part 2, it appears to be the same case. The opener is a new song from Passion Pit. It starts out just alright, but then a minute in, when it gets all electronic on us, it becomes something rather enjoyable. Check it out.

Lady Gaga & Terry Richardson making “Cake” (Trailer)

Lady Gaga once again paired up with famed photographer Terry Richardson for Cake. According to Gaga’s recent tweet, it’s a film that the two completed. From the looks of this trailer, it’s the pop star in minimal clothes dancing around and checking her ass out in a mirror. What a pair these two freaks make.

Rihanna debuts new track on SNL (Video)

Rihanna came back to SNL last night and performed two tracks off her upcoming album, Unapologetic. The single “Diamonds” isn’t her best hit in my opinion, but I did enjoy the debut of “Stay” as the second performance. Host Anne Hathway wasn’t too funny, but still had a few laughs.

MCR decided to do something a little different that I was just discussing with a close pal. More bands should take the route that Gerard Way & Company are for Conventional Weapons. This will be a compilation of songs released as singles. Given, these are what the band is calling “scrapped” songs, but it’s good that they are at least seeing the light of day and getting new music to their loyal fans… C’mon Lacey. The first is “Boy Division”, released along with “Tomorrow’s Money”. These are the first of ten tracks that will be included on Conventional Weapons. Both are sounding pretty dang good.

Ne-Yo – R.E.D.

Ne-Yo will release his fifth studio album a week from today, but grab the leak now. R.E.D. doesn’t have many features on it, but Ne-Yo doesn’t need all that to deliver a solid album. I would say Year Of The Gentleman is where Ne-Yo peaked, but he still has plenty of good tracks on this one I’m sure.
