QOTSA stopped by Later with Jools Holland last week to perform two new tracks off …Like Clockwork. I can’t get enough of the album leaks. Keep them coming. Album out soon on Matador.

QOTSA preview two more tracks from …Like Clockwork (Video)

Queens-of-the-Stone-Age-Like-Clockwork-1000x515

There are two more songs from …Like Clockwork that found their way on to YouTube over the past couple days. QOTSA seem content with releasing these preview animated videos to help build the buzz around their new album. Yesterday’s track “Kalopsia” features Trent Reznor on supporting vocals. “Keep Your Eyes Pealed” is a typical Queens track that feels a little more like album filler. “Eat Fuck” on the jacket made my day though. GG reigns.

QOTSA – I Appear Missing (Video)

I’ll assume the creators of Metalocalypse helped with making the new animated video for Queens Of The Stone Age. “I Appear Missing” has the same brutal imagery as the Adult Swim show. Great to hear another track from …Like Clockwork. Can’t wait for that one to leak.

QOTSA - LIKE CLOCKWORK

With debuting this track last week and now the announcement of QOTSA at Made In America, I had to get on the hunt for the studio recording to download. “My God Is The Sun” is an instant classic from QOTSA. This and NIN live together? Just throw in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and my entire wishlist for this summer will be complete. Fingers crossed there are a few more additions to the lineup… Like Clockwork is out in June.

Josh Homme & Eddie Vedder

Josh Homme and QOTSA brought out the Pearl Jam frontman for a little help on cowbell during “Little Sister” at this weekend’s Lollapalooza in Chile. Eddie Vedder helps out on the chorus and doesn’t skip a beat on that bell. QOTSA’s new album, …Like Clockwork, is due out in June on Matador Records.

QOTSA

I’ve been anxious and patient for this. QOTSA finally give us a peek in to what some of their new album will sound like with “My God Is The Sun”. I’m disappointed to see that Joey Castillo is no longer behind the drums, but Josh has always had a pretty heavy rotation in the always-changing lineup. Rumor is Nick Oliveri will be featured on the untitled next release for a few tracks. This is a good first taste.

The Hounds Below – Since He Came To Play (Video)

The Hounds Below

Who was I to question if Jason Stollsteimer would make good music after The Von Bondies? Of course he is. The Hounds Below debut is worth your time & money. Here is one of the tracks that lands somewhere in the middle of You Light Me Up In The Dark. I don’t care if “For You & I” sounds like “Rebellion 2013″. They’re making great music. I still miss these guys though.

NJ Throwback – Zero Boys – Livin’ In The 80′s (MP3, Video)

Zero Boys

Zero Boys were a hardcore band out of Indiana, likely the only decent thing in hardcore to come out of Indiana for that matter. Their album Vicious Circle is one of the best full lengths that the genre has to offer. While this track definitely has more a rock and roll sound to it, tunes like “Amphetamine Addiction” and the album’s title track stay more true the hardcore sound. For some reason though, “Livin’ In The 80′s” is my go-to. Definitely a jukebox jam for the nights you’re getting pickled at the bar.

Turbonegro – I Got A Knife (MP3, Video)

Tony Sylvester makes his new gig as the frontman of Turbonegro look a good fucking time in the latest visuals off Sexual Harassment. Draped in denim, painted up, and sporting the illest tattoo stomach, he brings a new raw sound to the Turbojugend fans. Not saying he’s the new Hank, but at least he’s keeping your denim in style. Check out the brand new video for “I Got A Knife”.

Coheed And Cambria – The Afterman (MP3, Video)

Posted in MP3, Rock & Roll, Video on November 16, 2012 by New Jawn

Coheed And Cambria release the second video from their latest album The Afterman: Ascension. Not really a stand out track from the usually rocking band, but they always have a few slowed down tracks on each full length. Claudio’s hair is looking a little flat in this one. Must be learning to tame that beast.

Jack White – Blues On Two Trees (Snippet)

Jack White must have had a whole gang of tracks to choose from for his solo debut Blunderbuss. The new single “I’m Shakin” is being released tomorrow via his Third Man Records and will include another previously unreleased track as the b-side on the 7″. This time, the b-side sounds way better than the a-side. Check a short snippet of the tune “Blues On Two Trees”. Jack is kinda rapping on this one from the sound of it.

The Black Keys & RZA – The Baddest Man Alive (MP3, Video)

RZA did a good job putting together this soundtrack from what we’ve had the pleasure of hearing so far. This time around, he works with rockers The Black Keys for a rock-rap collaboration that sounds like perfect music for his new flick The Man With The Iron Fists. Looking forward to the full soundtrack getting leaked and definitely picking this one up on wax.

Jack White – I’m Shakin’ (Video)

Posted in MP3, Rock & Roll, Video on October 10, 2012 by New Jawn

One of my least favorite tracks off the solo debut from Jack White is “I’m Shakin”, but that didn’t stop him from making it the next single off Blunderbuss. There were plenty of upset people about Jack’s tirade and storm off stage at Radio City a few weeks back, but I would have been more pissed if he played this lackluster track. It just doesn’t do it for me, but I’ll still check out the visuals. I do want to check out the unreleased b-side that landed on the 7″ also.

Your favorite comic book, prog rock, nerd band is back with their latest offering entitled The Afterman Ascension. Claudio Sanchez and the rest of Coheed And Cambria deliver nine new tracks, including a four parter (as usual) called “Key Entity Extraction”. The album is part one of a double disc and will be released this Tuesday. The second portion will be out in February 2013.

The Hives – Take Back The Toys (Video)

Posted in Rock & Roll, Television, Video on October 7, 2012 by New Jawn

I was going to ruin my run of boycotting Jay Leno since The Hives made an appearance on his show last week and I felt it only fair to share it since those Swedes are fucking awesome. But then, I decided to just post footage of them performing the same song from their show in NYC a few months back. Enjoy “Take Back The Toys” and say fuck you to Jay Leno once again.

The 69 Eyes – Red (MP3, Video)

The Helsinki Vampires released their new album last week and I am finally getting around to checking it out. It’s the usual sound you’ve come to expect from The 69 Eyes, but unlike their last album, it’s good all the way thru. The monotone goth sound isn’t for everyone, but I’m a fan of these Finnish rockers. Check out X if you’re into haunting love songs with heavy guitars. Check out the first single “Red” below if you’re on the fence.

Josh Homme – Nobody To Love (Stream)

Posted in Rock & Roll, Soundtracks, Stream on September 28, 2012 by New Jawn

Josh Homme doesn’t make bad music. I put him up there as one of the best in the music industry along with the likes of Dave Grohl and Jack White, in terms of diversity, production, and just being an all around badass. This time he records a solo track for the End Of Watch soundtrack. Homme is promising a new QOTSA record soon, so this is just a tease. But a much welcome tease indeed. MP3 coming soon.

The Kills – Wild Charms (MP3, Video)

Posted in MP3, Rock & Roll, Video on September 17, 2012 by New Jawn

The Kills are still putting out videos for one of my favorite albums of 2011, Blood Pressures. This time they give the minute long track “Wild Charms” the visual treatment. Not much going on and the song serves more as an interlude on the LP. No Alison though? Come on now.

NJ Throwback – Love – My Little Red Book (MP3, Video)

Posted in MP3, Rock & Roll, Throwback, Video on September 6, 2012 by New Jawn

For this edition of the NJ Throwback series, we are going way back. Love are considered to be a major influential band of the 60′s and their album Forever Changes is almost always included in Top Albums of All-time lists, usually within the Top 20. This track wasn’t included on their most notable work, but it’s still a classic. Check out frontman Arthur Lee and company’s performance on American Bandstand from decades ago. Those glasses. The ‘kerchief. The double barrel guitar. These guys define cool.
