Empire Of The Sun – Discovery (Trailer)

Empire Of The Sun - Discovery

Empire Of The Sun go the Daft Punk route and tease us with a 15-second snippet of some new music that will land on their upcoming album. Or at least we can assume that. The Australians take a full 2.5 minutes to get around to the short taste of the disco rhythms fans have come to know and love. Luke Steele sure does know how to rock a fancy headdress. New music finally from this duo 2013. Well overdue.

A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III (Trailer)

Posted in Movies, Trailers with tags , , , on January 22, 2013 by New Jawn

charles swan III

I’ve been seeing the advertisements for this flick on the tops of cabs around the city and could tell Wes Anderson had to be involved somehow. While I’m not crazy about Charlie Sheen, the selections of Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman always spark my interest. A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III is the latest film directed by Roman Coppolla. While more famous for other reasons, Roman’s latest efforts have been co-writing Moonrise Kingdom and The Darjeeling Limited along with Wes. He worked with Schwartzman previously on the odd sci-fi spoof CQ, which the DVD cover always reminded me of an old-school porn back in my BBV days. The movie centers around dreams, so it may get off track at times I’ll suspect. It’s available to rent same day as theaters on Comcast. I’m spending the $9.99 plus tax tonight.

Upstream Color (Trailer)

upstream color #1

Primer was an original piece of movie making so I am hoping that writer-director Shane Curruth delivers with his follow-up, Upstream Color. Much like his debut, the sophomore project stars Curruth along with a cast of mostly unknown actors. The premise sounds pretty wild. I hope it doesn’t get too National Geographic in the same way Tree Of Life ruined itself. That movie was unwatchable. I don’t think we have to worry about that being the case with Upstream Color. Check out the official trailer and catch it in theaters starting April 5th.

Django Unchained – Soundtrack (Trailer)

Posted in Movies, Trailers with tags , , , on November 29, 2012 by New Jawn

I know this hit the web a few weeks ago, but I finally got around to checking out the official trailer for Django Unchained, the upcoming film from Quentin Tarantino. M. shouldn’t get too bent out of shape that Quentin stole his idea about making a movie about slave times, because his idea sounded much more epic than Django. With that said, getting Leo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx to star in this, along with Inglourious Basterds show-stealer Christoph Waltz, is where Tarantino wins the battle.  In addition to this star-studded cast, we found out today that Rick Ross will be featured on the soundtrack.  That’s how you capture the urban market.  This gem hits theaters Christmas Day.

Here’s Rozay’s track for the film:

Lady Gaga & Terry Richardson making “Cake” (Trailer)

Posted in Art, Movies, Pop, Trailers on November 14, 2012 by New Jawn

Lady Gaga once again paired up with famed photographer Terry Richardson for Cake. According to Gaga’s recent tweet, it’s a film that the two completed. From the looks of this trailer, it’s the pop star in minimal clothes dancing around and checking her ass out in a mirror. What a pair these two freaks make.

Deftones – Koi No Yokan

Deftones pushed back their new album one week, but lucky for us, it leaked in advance. Still buy their seventh full length, Koi No Yokan, when it gets released next Tuesday. “Tempest” gave me some high expectations for Koi, but I don’t anticipate that being an issue. The Tones always have at least a few classics per album, with a few fillers. Check out the album’s official trailer that hit the web today.

The Comedy (Trailer)

Posted in Comedy, Movies, Trailers with tags , , on November 5, 2012 by New Jawn

The Comedy is available now On Demand in the Same Day As Theaters section. Tim Heidecker stars as the well-to-do hipster main star who says off the wall shit and just does basically whatever he wants. It makes for many awkward moments and sick jokes, just like you expect from Heidecker. The Comedy also stars James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and Wareheim of Awesome Show. Lots of chubby fat Tim in the nude, completely unnecessarily. But funny nonetheless. Rent it now or wait to see if it comes to the Ritz.

Action Bronson & The Alchemist in “The Symbol” (Trailer)

Posted in Hip Hop, Trailers, Video on October 20, 2012 by New Jawn

In what looks like it could be the greatest music video ever made, Action Bronson and The Alchemist team up for some B-quality motion picture shit. Bronson in different wigs and costumes. It looks like Tarantino had a hand in putting this together. I can’t wait for the full video to hit the web. For now, check out the trailer.

The Walking Dead – Season 3 (Trailer)

Posted in Television, Trailers with tags , , on October 14, 2012 by New Jawn

The zombie apocalypse series The Walking Dead returns tonight for the premiere of season three. If you’re a fan of the show, you remember one of the main characters getting offed just before the finale last year and the brief introduction of Michonne, who is one of the more badass characters from the comic series. From the trailers, we also know that brother Merle is returning this year, minus a hand of course. Writers are taking it to the prison this year since the farm got overrun by Walkers. No spoilers here, just a little hype for the third season of one of the more entertaining series on television. Oh you have Dish? You suck then.

The 69 Eyes preview new album X (Video)

Posted in Metal, Trailers, Video with tags on September 18, 2012 by New Jawn

First H.I.M. return with a new track, now The 69 Eyes are releasing a new album. I feel like my hair should be long and I should be watching CKY4 all over again. The other Finnish goth-metal band that Bam Margera almost helped bring to the American mainstream are releasing X on October 9th in the states. Frontman Jyrki 69 provides some commentary while playing snippets of each song off the album. It sounds actually very good, but I’ve always liked their sound.

The Master (Trailer)

Posted in Movies, Trailers with tags , on September 7, 2012 by New Jawn

Paul Thomas Anderson returns next week with a new film The Master. P.T. never disappoints and from the trailer, it looks like it will be another gem to add to his already stellar resume. The Master stars frequent collaborator Phillip Seymour Hoffman as a man who finds a religous organization and Joaquin Phoenix as his right-hand man. The film opens next Friday and stars Amy Adams and Laura Dern in supporting roles. You can expect some intense drama, just like every other P.T. flick. Magnolia is still his finest flick.

IN THEATERS: Lawless

Posted in Movies, Trailers with tags , , , on August 31, 2012 by New Jawn

Heading to see this shortly. Lawless hits theaters this week and of course it stars the guy who is in just about everything 2012 has to offer: Tom Hardy. It has a westrn vibe, but doesn’t look like the cliche or typical old school western. I expect a ton of people getting shot in the face and shit since I’ve been told Hardy is “such a badass”. It also features former NJOTW Jessica Chastain and Shia LaBouf, along with all-stars Gary Oldman and Guy Pearce. LaBouf recently was crying to the press about how he would give back all of his Transformers money for credibilty in the industry. Here’s an idea. Stop playing the tortured artist and showing your dingus in Sigur Ros videos and pick quality flicks, instead of garbage sequels. You never heard Leo cry about all that Titanic money. He just made good movie after good movie from that point on. There was no way he was signing on to a Titanic sequel… Get your act together LaBouf.

Bloc Party new album, Four (Trailer)

Posted in Indie, Music News, Trailers on June 29, 2012 by New Jawn

Bloc Party are releasing a new album on August, properly titled Four. They’ve been posting pictures of them in the studio and released a trailer for the album on YouTube. After the break up rumors and supposed search for a replacement singer, I’m releaved to have Bloc Party back. They will be in Philly on September 15th for a show at the Tower Theater. Well, Upper Darby, but close enough. Peep Kelly sporting the Rihanna Nirvana tee. Such a fashionista.

Just as last year, MD will make stops in Chicago, Philly, New York, and Los Angeles. The dates for each city are in the advertisement above. Artists and DJ’s will be announced later and will be different for each city. You can expect Diplo and/or Major Lazer to be at each Block Party though. Check out the trailer video showing a brief history of this summer tradition and be sure to RSVP at the Mad Decent site to (try to) ensure entry.

Band Of Horses releasing Dumpster World (Trailer)

Posted in Alternative, Concerts, Music News, Trailers with tags , , on June 22, 2012 by New Jawn

Band Of Horses had already made their summer plans of touring with My Morning Jacket, but we didn’t know they would be shopping around some new tunes during the shows. Dumpster World, which is a pretty awful name, will be released in September. Check out the quick teaser the band released today. These guys and MMJ will be at the Mann on August 17th here in Philly.

Mac & Devin Go To High School (Trailer)

Posted in Comedy, Hip Hop, Movies, Trailers with tags , , on June 22, 2012 by New Jawn

You can judge for yourself if this is something you want to throw away some hard earned dollars on. Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa have taken over the old Redman and Method Man roles as the highest niggas in the game. How High was set on a college campus, but Snoop in high school? That’s just retarded. Check out the official trailer for Mac & Devin Go To High School.

The Dark Knight Rises IMAX presale begins – NJNews

Posted in Advertising, Comics, Local Events, Movies, Trailers on June 11, 2012 by New Jawn

I more so wanted to post this because of the dope ad/poster used for The Dark Knight Rises presale for the midnight showing at the Tuttleman IMAX at the Franklin Institute. That theater is rough on the neck, but if it’s the only place local showing TDKR in IMAX, I’ll suffer thru it. Hopefully I can make a trip to Cherry Hill or K.O.P. with the other superfans though. Presale tickets are on sale now for the July 20th showing at midnight. I’m sure it will sell out, but not sure if it will 5-6 weeks in advance.

Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom” (Trailer)

Posted in Movies, Trailers on June 10, 2012 by New Jawn

It’s been five years since Wes Anderson last released an original film. While 2009′s Fantastic Mr. Fox was a good adaptation of the Roald Dahl children’s classic, I don’t consider it a real part of Anderson’s collection. The Darjeeling Limited was a disappointment on my end, so when I heard about Moonrise Kingdom, I immediately hoped for a return to form for my favorite director. From the looks of this newly released trailer, Wes is back. I’ve seen these camera shots and the dialogue has the same dry humor that he’s used in all of his classics. Some people may read that and think that is a negative statement, but it’s just the opposite. Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou are probably three of my top five favorite films of all time, so if even the smallest piece of their greatness can be seen in Moonrise Kingdom, I’m in. Watch the trailer for yourself.
