G.O.O.D. Music dropped this lead single on Good Friday. Kanye Westis dickin’ down Kim……the most attention crazy couple in the entire world. You already know this shit is fire. Kanye is a f#%!ing pimp.
Here’s another track that will be featured on the second MMG compilation Self Made Vol. 2. Rozay and company have leaked a few tracks so far and it sounds just as good as Vol. 1. Meek Mill and Wale enlist French Montana for a hard track called “Actin Up”. Good to know the addition of Omarion to their team hasn’t made the rest of the squad soften up.
Dreamchasers 2 drops in a few hours and expect it to be blasting out of every whip in North Philly by tomorrow. Meek has some guest spots on his new mixtape, including this track with Drake and Jeremih. You’ll be able to download Dreamchasers 2 at Datpiff. They got the countdown going on.
Yesterday, Santigold dropped her follow-up to her self-titled album with Master Of My Make Believe. A few tracks had leaked in advance, with a couple of promising cuts included. The lead single “Disparate Youth” is getting plenty of play on my end and I loved the Karen-O assist from the gate. You can check out another song entitled “Look At These Hoes” off Master Of My Make Believeor just follow the link to download the full album. It’s in stores now. Support the artists you want to continue making music.
Action Bronson releases a new track produced by his original beat-man Tony Mas who he partnered with on Dr. Lecter. Bronson spits his usual bars about getting his cook on and his love for cuisine. Looking forward to seeing Bronson at Bamboozle. It’s only him and A$AP Rocky for rappers on the Saturday lineup, so those will be the smoke times.
Kindness recently released his debut album World, You Need A Change Of Mind. Here’s another single for fans. “House” is available on iTunes to download, but you can stream it down below. This guy is funky. Him, Dev Hynes, and Starlight should link up to make some amazing music.
OFWGKTA stand-out MC’s Hodgy Beats and Domo Genesis make up MellowHigh. They get the help of Lex Luger on a new track, ”Timbs”. These Odd Future kids are off the wall, as usual. Have you been keeping up with Loiter Squad? The latest episode was kind of a dud, but up until then, it’s been hilarious. Johnny Knoxville made an appearance last week that was a waste. Hopefully the Dickhouse Team comes thru again and we get some better footage.
Frank Ocean has plenty of old material, apparently, and it keeps surfacing. This song dates back well before his Nostalgia release and I read was a possible track for the Backstreet Boys to pick up at one point. If you’re watching Loiter Squad, you can see these OFWGKTA kids aren’t pigeon-holing themselves as just singers or MC’s. While Tyler may turn out to be more suited for comedy, Frank can earn a ton of dough ghost-writing for big names, as well as being a solid artist. I bet Busy feels like a proud parent watching these younglings take over the world.
It has some old lines in it, but here is a new Kanye West track with a DJ Khaledfeature. Not sure if this will make the G.O.O.D. Music compilation, but regardless, new Yeezy always gets play. The lead single from the label’s album drops this Friday. Get ready. Flex bombs on this one.
Ten years ago today, Taking Back Sunday released their debut full length Tell All YourFriends. The album has withstood the test of time and will always remind me of another time. The lyrical duo of Adam Lazzara and John Nolan is the best the frequently-shifting band has ever seen and explains why they just recently reunited for the band’s latest self-titled album. Tell All Your Friendsspawned several singles for TBS, including “Great Romances Of The 20th Century”, “Timberwolves At New Jersey”, and “Cute Without The E”. My favorite track off TAYFwas the album opener “You Know How I Do”, but each and every song was great, including the last single they would release from their debut, “You’re So Last Summer”, which was funny enough released after the departure of Nolan. You probably remember the video which featured the new guitarist Fred Mascherino and the grossest man to ever walk the Earth, Flava Flav. Tell All Your Friendsmay have come out of the emo-pop-punk scene, but so did Brand New, who are one of the greatest bands making music. Enough said.
Catch Taking Back Sunday on tour this summer with the Vans Warped Tour. TBS is back at Warped along with The Used, Senses Fail, Yellowcard, and New Found Glory. I guess not too much has changed in 10 years with looking at that lineup. Warped hits the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden on July 20th. Tickets are on sale now.
Bassnectar throws Lupe Fiasco in on his usual house, dubstep sound and it actually works pretty well. Bassnectar will be performing up on Temple’s campus on April 20th. When I saw Girl Talk and Pretty Lights at the Liacouras Center, it was an amazing show. Hopefully fans are in for something similar when Bass comes thru. Check out the lead single from his upcoming album VaVa Voom.
I don’t fuck with Mac Miller but I know he gets play by some of the younger crowd. He’s back releasing yet another free mixtape for fans. This time around, he’s got guest appearances from Cam’ron, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Sir Michael Rocks, and Juicy J. Follow the link to download Macadellic.
Swizz Beatz is about to drop a new mixtape soon and, as usual, he’s got plenty of guest appearances to make it worth checking out. I gotta admit, I was skeptical about this A$AP Rocky dude, but he’s thorough. After seeing him and his team bum rush the idiots at SXSW that were throwing beers at them while on stage, as well as his interview with Nardwaur, I have respect for his music and Rocky himself. Give “Street Knock” a listen and get ready for Limitless, which will also feature Rick Ross, Nas, DMX, and The LOX.
The pair reunite for a new track off of the upcoming Obie Trice album Bottom’s Up, due out on April 3rd. The track has production by Statik Selektah and features Trice’s former bossman Eminem spitting some fast bars. Good to see that Obie and Em are still cool even though his albums aren’t coming out on Shady Records anymore.
The Wu Block material keeps coming but I haven’t heard any official details of whether this will be a mixtape or album. I have to assume a free mixtape since Sheek Louch and Ghostface are going in on some recycled beats, posting tracks weekly. This time, they do a “Flash Back” and crush a classic KRS-One beat. Great choice to let Ghost spit over. Random Sigel shout out from Sheek.
The latest mixtape from the Odd Future click is available in stores today. It was released with four different covers, all pictured above. For those of you who aren’t willing to spend dough on The OF Tape, Vol. 2, you might as well as download a leak of the album. OFWGKTA are gonna go bananas at the Electric Factory on Friday and will likely perform a bunch of the tracks off Vol. 2. Better get listening now if you have tickets.
Here’s the latest single from Nas. “The Don” is produced by Heavy D. I didn’t even know Heavy was able to make beats really, except I do recall Hov giving him a shout at the beginning of “Guns & Roses”. When does that new Nas disc drop? “Nasty” was a minute ago now.
Frank Ocean will have this track included on the upcoming Odd Future compilation, The OF Tape, Vol. 2. Ocean always delivers, even when the song is only 2 minutes long. He’s been tapped to support Coldplay for some tour dates in the coming months. Working with Pharrell, Kanye, and Jay-Z, now touring with one of the biggest bands in the world? This cat is doin’ it.
