G.O.O.D. Music dropped this lead single on Good Friday. Kanye Westis dickin’ down Kim……the most attention crazy couple in the entire world. You already know this shit is fire. Kanye is a f#%!ing pimp.
Turbonegro debuted the first new track since the Tony Sylvester takeover on vocals. The track premiered on a BBC1 radio show. I want to like it so bad, but I still am missing Hank. I have to stop thinking of it as a change, and start viewing it as an evolution of Turbonegro. It’s definitely still the same band though. With titles like “You Give Me Worms” and “Shake Your Shit Machine”, I am sure I will find a way to get into the new material. In due time.
OFWGKTA stand-out MC’s Hodgy Beats and Domo Genesis make up MellowHigh. They get the help of Lex Luger on a new track, ”Timbs”. These Odd Future kids are off the wall, as usual. Have you been keeping up with Loiter Squad? The latest episode was kind of a dud, but up until then, it’s been hilarious. Johnny Knoxville made an appearance last week that was a waste. Hopefully the Dickhouse Team comes thru again and we get some better footage.
Casey Veggies is still fuckin’ with the Odd Future crew and has them drop by for his latest track off the upcoming Customized Greatly, Vol. 3 mixtape. This track features Tyler, The Creator, Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis, and Earl Sweatshirt. Earl’s return is causing some hype, but if he can deliver like he does on “PNCINTLOFWGTKA”, he’s gonna live up to the high expectations.
Frank Ocean has plenty of old material, apparently, and it keeps surfacing. This song dates back well before his Nostalgia release and I read was a possible track for the Backstreet Boys to pick up at one point. If you’re watching Loiter Squad, you can see these OFWGKTA kids aren’t pigeon-holing themselves as just singers or MC’s. While Tyler may turn out to be more suited for comedy, Frank can earn a ton of dough ghost-writing for big names, as well as being a solid artist. I bet Busy feels like a proud parent watching these younglings take over the world.
It has some old lines in it, but here is a new Kanye West track with a DJ Khaledfeature. Not sure if this will make the G.O.O.D. Music compilation, but regardless, new Yeezy always gets play. The lead single from the label’s album drops this Friday. Get ready. Flex bombs on this one.
Bassnectar throws Lupe Fiasco in on his usual house, dubstep sound and it actually works pretty well. Bassnectar will be performing up on Temple’s campus on April 20th. When I saw Girl Talk and Pretty Lights at the Liacouras Center, it was an amazing show. Hopefully fans are in for something similar when Bass comes thru. Check out the lead single from his upcoming album VaVa Voom.
Swizz Beatz is about to drop a new mixtape soon and, as usual, he’s got plenty of guest appearances to make it worth checking out. I gotta admit, I was skeptical about this A$AP Rocky dude, but he’s thorough. After seeing him and his team bum rush the idiots at SXSW that were throwing beers at them while on stage, as well as his interview with Nardwaur, I have respect for his music and Rocky himself. Give “Street Knock” a listen and get ready for Limitless, which will also feature Rick Ross, Nas, DMX, and The LOX.
The pair reunite for a new track off of the upcoming Obie Trice album Bottom’s Up, due out on April 3rd. The track has production by Statik Selektah and features Trice’s former bossman Eminem spitting some fast bars. Good to see that Obie and Em are still cool even though his albums aren’t coming out on Shady Records anymore.
The Wu Block material keeps coming but I haven’t heard any official details of whether this will be a mixtape or album. I have to assume a free mixtape since Sheek Louch and Ghostface are going in on some recycled beats, posting tracks weekly. This time, they do a “Flash Back” and crush a classic KRS-One beat. Great choice to let Ghost spit over. Random Sigel shout out from Sheek.
The latest mixtape from the Odd Future click is available in stores today. It was released with four different covers, all pictured above. For those of you who aren’t willing to spend dough on The OF Tape, Vol. 2, you might as well as download a leak of the album. OFWGKTA are gonna go bananas at the Electric Factory on Friday and will likely perform a bunch of the tracks off Vol. 2. Better get listening now if you have tickets.
French Montana is looking like he could be one of the breakthrough MC’s of 2012 considering all of the tracks he’s been showing up on and his signing to Bad Boy and Maybach Music Group. He’s got a new mixtape out today. NY On Top: Year Of The Underdog can be downloaded over on Datpiff or by following the link below. NY on top and he puts a picture of Jeremy Lin on the cover? What a slap in the face to the Knicks player who isn’t just a media hype. Sorry Melo.
Ricky Rozay continues to dominate the rap game with new music basically on a daily basis. It’s hard to even keep up with this guy honestly. After giving away a solid mixtape for free with Rich Forever, he’s now getting ready to drop his label’s second compilation in less than a year with Self Made, Vol. 2. After that, he’s finally going to release his much anticipated solo effort God Forgives, I Don’t. Even in the mix of this, he’s continuing to pump out remixes, guest spots, and freestyles. Rather than calling Ross a fucking pimp, I think a fucking BOSS is more fitting. Here’s some of the more recent tracks from the hardest working man in hip hop. Some that we’ve posted already, others that we slept on.
I guess it’s official. This Wu Block project is just gonna be Ghostface and Sheek Louch. Regardless if the rest of The Wu and The Lox are on these tracks, every one of the songs that have leaked have been fire so far. Here’s another one that got released today. “Barry” has a nice soulful sample of a classic Barry White track. Pretty Tony kissing the bird might be my favorite picture to ever make the site that didn’t have a BasedGod reference.
Here’s the Kid Cudi contribution to the upcoming soundtrack for The Hunger Games. I never put together that The Hunger Games was a direct rip off in manys of the Asian classic Battle Royale. Now that I read it, I have to agree. Either way, the movie looks dope, but no way it will be nearly as violent or badass as Battle Royale. That said, they’ve done a swell job on the soundtrack.
You ever feel like giving up? Your life is so hard and you’ll never be successful? K.R.I.T. will give you a pep talk and make you feel like a winner. Get up off your ass and get that money or whatever you value. It’s 70 and sunny in Philly today, go walk the dog or throw a picnic for your girl.
Here’s a new leak for the real hip hop fans. MAYDAY will drop Take Me To Your Leader on March 27th. This new track “T.N.T.” features Dead Prez. You already know what to expect lyrically when Dead Prez are on a track.
The new OFWGKTA compilation is going to be released in two weeks, so the wild young boys are continuing to leak tracks to get the internet buzzing even more about their group. Odd Future’s next release is entitled The OF Tape Vol. 2. It features “Rella” that leaked a couple weeks back and “NY (Ned Flander)” that they released today with an official music video. Tyler and Hodgy take the lead once again for this cut. Smart.
