Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2012 (Video)

The big news from this year’s Summer Jam was Lil Wayne having the YMCMB team back out on his label signee Nicki Minaj perfoming at the annual Hot 97 concert series. Apparently, 97’s morning DJ Peter Rosenberg made some remarks about Nicki’s single “Starships” being a horrible record, causing Weezy to take to Twitter and announce Minaj and the all-star crew set to appear with her were backing out on the station. I’m sure that pissed off the crowd considering it was rumored that Nicki was bringing Wayne, Cam’ron, Nas, Lauryn Hill, and Tyga for the concert’s final performance.

In shit that actually did happen, Big Sean had the G.O.O.D. Music team, without Kanye, help out for his set. He brought out Pusha T and 2 Chainz for the smash “Mercy”. Big Sean could use a little help with learning where his waist is located. Pull your fuckin’ pants up brah! He looks like a hood rat basehead wearing his little sister’s skinnies. No wonder Kanye skipped this.

And in a last minute switch to help avoid riots from breaking out due to Wayne’s team bailing, Nas took over the finale of 2012’s Summer Jam. He brought out the already in attendance Lauryn Hill for their classic “If I Ruled The World”. Considering Minaj’s fans are mostly 12-18 year old females, I doubt it was as enjoyable, but the real hip hop fans got to hear some of their favorite tracks from the Queens native. All in all, I’m sure they got their money’s worth.
